Espoo Kahvipaahtimo was born from the idea that coffee can be more than an everyday routine. It can be a little stop in the middle of the day. A moment when the aroma fills the kitchen, the first sip softens the mind and the taste tells a story from afar – but still feels like your own.

For us, coffee is not just beans and a roast. It's a feeling: smooth and balanced , safe and familiar – or sometimes bold, funky and surprising . And above all, it's a promise we want to keep every time: the coffee is always freshly roasted.

Our roaster founder, Andre, has been roasting coffee for almost 15 years . That experience is not only reflected in the roasting technique, but in how the coffee “settles” in the cup: clean, controlled and enjoyable. We are known especially for our soft-tasting, carefully ground roasts , but also for our ability to roast rare and bold specialty coffees when you want to push the boundaries of flavor – without ever compromising on quality or drinkability.

All our coffees are roasted and packaged by hand in Suomenoja, Espoo . It is important to us that every bag is one that we can proudly hand to our customers. That is why we are constantly looking for new small farmers and responsible partners around the world – so that we can ensure the ethical origin of the coffees and that the quality is felt in every cup. Each batch is carefully tasted before sale, because we want what we promise to taste like .

There have also been some tough moments along the way. The fire at the roastery in spring 2023 was a tough blow, and not everything in entrepreneurship has always gone according to plan. But that's when I remembered the most important thing: why we do this. Not just because of the coffee, but because of what coffee means to people – the little lights in everyday life, encounters, moments that make the day better.

Our work has also been recognized in competitions: we have won the Roasters' Challenge in 2022 and 2023 , and in 2024 we came third in the competition. In addition, we were awarded the Decaffeinated Coffee of the Year and Espresso of the Year awards at the 2024 Helsinki Coffee Festival . In 2025, we came in second place in the Filter Coffee of the Year competition . These are signs to us that uncompromising work is visible and tasty.
