Luis Aníbal Calderón Natural Anaerobic – Sidra Bourbon
Funkybox #1125 coffee now available for public sale. A berry and floral rarity!
Blueberry – Lavender – Strawberry – Lime
The Sidra variety, grown in the lush mountains of Villa Betulia in Acevedo, Colombia, offers a berry and floral taste experience!
Hand-picked, fully ripe cherries undergo 40 hours of anaerobic fermentation, after which they are sun-dried.
The end result is a coffee that shines with a blend of berry, floral and fresh acidity. The cider combines the best of Bourbon and Typica.
A story of survival and dedication
Luis has been growing coffee for over 40 years, but his path has not been easy. In 2011, he was five minutes away from losing his farm to the bank — during the market crisis, C-market prices were not enough to cover costs. Instead of giving up, Luis put everything on the line and planted thousands of exotic coffee trees: Gesha, Sidra, Pink Bourbon, Java… and many more. That was the beginning of Luis’ journey to become a top farmer!
Today, Villa Betulia is a mecca for specialty coffee in Huila, and Luis is known as a master of fermentation techniques — as you can see in this coffee. This is an experience born of passion and the courage to take risks.
